About
Kimi Records Interviews Kimi Records
-egocentric approach to oneself-
KR: So, how are you?
KR: Fine, thanks, you?
KR: Fine, so what is this Kimi Records, is it a label owned by Kimi Raikkonen?
KR: It is a label but not owned by Kimi Raikkonen. The owner is Baldvin Esra Einarsson and his girlfriend, she is a veterinarian though and does not work for the label, she is the money man.
KR: I see, so what does this Kimi mean?
KR: It means corner. We are a alternative label doing unmainstream stuff and kimi is a perfect word for what we are doing, bringing music from all corners of Icelandic culture.
KR: Cool
KR: Thanks
KR: So how did this come about?
KR: I have short attention span and get easily bored, so regular office hour work is highly unsuitable for me. The music business is in constant flux and there is always new stuff happening. Kind of my thing. So you can say that Kimi comes from boredom.
KR: Cool, so your lazy also?
KR: Yeah, when I’m uninterested in what I’m doing or about to do. But when I’m interested I can work like a maniac.
KR: When did the label start operating?
KR: Operating on what?
KR: When did it start?
KR: Oh, September 2007. By now (march 2009) we have released 10 albums and have good distribution network in Iceland and the distributional network for the rest of the world is under construction.
KR: So you are planning a world domination thingy
KR: Yes, who told you?
KR: Heard it on the Grapevine
KR: Ok, it is a good newsmagazine, I advertise there.
KR: Are you talking about Reykjavik Grapevine?
KR: Yes
KR: Great, thanks for an interesting interview. One thing to conclude
KR: Yes
KR: What is your Demo Policy?
KR: It is bad, we get some demos from people we don’t know and we seldomly do anything with it. In my oppinion if someone is doing good music somewhere we will find it without a demo being sent to us. People can send us demos via email but they can’t expect us to anything with it. Most of our release are friends or friends of a friend. Or something really cool, and then we try to befriend them.
